This bone pin was found in Hay Top barrow in 1851. It is worked to a point and has a hole in the top.

This type of object was used throughout the prehistoric period. Bone pins are very difficult to date, but this one is dated to the Bronze Age. This is because it was found with a Food vessel, a typical Bronze Age pot.

The pin has been damaged in antiquity. It has lost its tip and part of the head.
