Llewellynn Jewitt's watercolour shows the two jet necklaces from the Cow Low burial.
The drawn reconstruction of the necklaces was suggested by Thomas Bateman himself. His reconstruction may be based on information from the actual excavation. It may be based on advice he received from his many contacts among 19th century archaeologists. We do not know which is the most likely. The stringing of the beads he used is still used today.
